Abstract

Abstract:

This research aims to study the verses in Surah Ash-Shura that mention divine will and related matters from two perspectives: The first is its contextual implications, which is achieved by explaining the relationship between these verses and the context preceding and following each of them. Secondly, the theological implications, through explaining how the divine will is fulfilled with regard to guidance and misguidance, sustenance, and divine power. Following an inductive and analytical approach, the research concluded that these verses are closely linked to their preceding and following. as they confirm the facts mentioned in those contexts, either by providing evidence, adding further explanation, or refuting falsehoods. And that, in its doctrinal implications, it proves that God Almighty is All-Powerful, All-Wise, Who guides whom He wills and leads astray whom He wills according to His wisdom, He is the Provider for His creation, expanding and restricting sustenance according to His will and mercy, He is capable of creation, resurrection, and reckoning, and that man is powerless and his knowledge is limited, so he is required to take the means of guidance and faith, and is in need of consultation and seeking guidance regarding the means of his sustenance. God's will attached to him, so He created him for a purpose and endowed him with free will to choose between guidance and misguidance. He will be resurrected on the Day of Judgment and held accountable for his choice, which aligns with the name of the surah: Ash-Shura (Consultation), through which human life is set right.
