ال The Reality and Challenges Endowment of Higher Education in Malaysia

Abstract

This study aims to explain the reality of waqf in the field of Malaysian higher education and its jurisprudential, legal, administrative and marketing challenges, and to present solutions to this issue.

As there are still some problems that hinder the implementation of the endowment for institutions of higher education, such as the difference in fatwas related to the endowment, the lack of coordination between the endowment departments in the different states, the lack of qualified employees to manage and develop the endowment, and the shortcomings of the Islamic Affairs Councils in promoting the endowment of higher education, due to the lack of products. These endowments are still in need of effective steps to comply with Sharia and its purposes. By presenting proposed solutions for the development of endowments in Malaysia, through adherence to the provisions of Sharia, facilitating dealings between the Islamic Affairs Councils of the Malaysian states, establishing special legislation for endowments, and strengthening the role of the federal government in improving the role of endowments in institutions of higher education.
