Abstract
search Summary:
Emotional harmony between spouses is one of the foundations for the stability and continuity of a family. Therefore, Islamic law has taken care to regulate family affairs, specify the rights and duties of each spouse. Life does not always go smoothly, and occasionally, factors may arise that disturb marital bliss, such as neglect between spouses or emotional discord. This can be due to a weak religious commitment, poor companionship, or detestable qualities in one of the spouses. Consequently, Islamic law forbids abandonment between spouses if the intent is to harm either of them.
Preserving progeny is a fundamental objective and a necessity among the five necessities that Islamic law seeks to preserve within society. This is achieved through legislating marriage to maintain the human race and prohibiting adultery and anything that violates the preservation of progeny. It also aims to achieve subsidiary objectives of marriage, such as tranquility, love, mercy, and harmony between spouses.
The Islamic approach is considered the optimal means to achieve these objectives through the development of religious and ethical values, good conduct, mutual respect, kind words, and obedience based on mutual understanding between spouses.
