Abstract

Social media platforms constitute one of the most prominent activities people engage in today through the use of the internet. It is well-known that these platforms have numerous positive aspects, which are not the focus of this research. However, they also have various negative effects, particularly on human dignity. This study specifically delves into the negative impacts of social media platforms on human moral dignity through various means and forms, as an attempt to undermine and diminish the dignity of others.

Considering that Islamic jurisprudence is applicable to all times and places and has been at the forefront of developing legislations that preserve human life and uphold moral dignity, this research highlights the role of Islamic legal objectives (Maqasid al-Shariah) in safeguarding human moral dignity, maintaining their honor, reputation, and esteem.
