Takseer Alhadeeth among Critics A Foundational and Applied Study

Abstract

The research focuses on studying Takseer Alhadeeth by elucidating its linguistic meanings, its occurrences in the prophetic traditions, and its relationship with critics' usage thereof. It identifies the first explicit user among them, the most frequent users, reasons for its use, and its forms in terms of both chain of transmission (sanad) and text (matn). The researcher employed both inductive and analytical methods in the study, concluding that critics often employ it linguistically to indicate poorly transmitted narrations, primarily in terms of both chain of transmission and text. Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal is recognized as the first to explicitly endorse its usage, while Abu Hatim al-Razi is noted for its most frequent use. The ranks of narrators who transmitted flawed narrations vary between trustworthy and weak, with identified reasons for these flaws. Critics utilized it in diverse forms concerning both chain of transmission and text. The researcher recommends further applied research exploring the relationship between Takseer Alhadeeth and their correction and manipulation.
