Genetic testing and IVF -a legal and Sharia reading-

Abstract

The study addressed, through the use of the inductive, analytical, and deductive approaches, the concept of genetic testing, its mechanism, and the concept of IVF, and mentioned its reasons, controls, and rulings, then discussed the decisions of the jurisprudence assemblies on the science of reading the genome, and the ethics of gene testing, Explaining how genetic testing and injections are regulated in Jordanian legislation, in accordance with the general rules of the Public Health Law and the Medical and Health Liability Law, along with instructions for fertility units.

The study concluded with the following key findings: The legitimacy of genetic testing and injections, which have existed since ancient times among jurists, is also new and contemporary in some aspects with current medical developments. Genetic testing also aims to reduce hereditary diseases, which will be a major burden on the state in treating those afflicted with them, and injections are a method resorted to after exhausting other means of reproduction to maintain the marriage.

The study recommends that Jordanian lawmakers keep pace with the issue by codifying specific provisions to ensure greater rigor and seriousness for individuals, while also providing a government forensic medical body with oversight over the testing or injection process.
