This research analyzes al-Ṣafadī’s views on the legal verses related to prayer—which constitutes the pillar of religion in Islam—as presented in his exegesis Kashf al-Asrār wa Hatk al-Astār. The study aims to uncover his juristic and exegetical perspective in explaining the rulings of prayer. It employs an analytical and comparative methodology by examining al-Ṣafadī’s interpretations in light of the approaches of major exegetes. The findings reveal that al-Ṣafadī offers an interpretative treatment that integrates linguistic analysis with juristic reasoning and that he relies more on the apparent meaning of the Qur’ānic expressions than on the rationales of legal rulings. The significance of this study lies in its contribution to highlighting al-Ṣafadī’s position within the tradition of aḥkām exegesis and in demonstrating his distinctive method in combining jurisprudence and linguistics in the interpretation of the Qur’ānic text.
