The Doctrine of Sam'iyyat According to Imam Ibn Arafah (803 AH) "Analytical Study"
Abstract
This study addresses the issues of cosmic Sam'iyyat (revealed matters of the unseen) by exploring the views of Imam Ibn Arafah (d. 803 AH) concerning them and determining his theological methodology. The research problem arose from the need to clarify the Imam’s stance on dealing with scriptural texts about the unseen and to refute philosophical interpretations, aiming to clarify Ibn Arafah's distinct perspective and highlight his contribution to establishing the foundations of faith. Employing both inductive (text tracing) and analytical-deductive (position stating) methods, the research concluded that Ibn Arafah followed a moderate methodology, distinguished by strict adherence to the apparent meaning of the texts and affirmation of the existential realities of the unseen (such as the corporeality of angels and the reality of the Bridge and the Scale), while simultaneously negating anthropomorphism and nihilism. The research recommended the necessity of prioritizing Ibn Arafah's theological heritage and activating its educational role in strengthening belief in the unseen, confirming that faith in Sam'iyyat is a fundamental pillar for building sound creed and shaping human conduct.
