Abstract

The symbols in plastic art are more developed and modified, as they are an aesthetic, artistic, and cognitive language formulated by the world’s peoples, and it is one of the artistic innovations throughout the ages, especially the decorative elements of humans and animals stemming from their culture and civilization heritage, which artists benefited from in their constructive formations in contemporary ceramic works.

Therefore, this study aimed at revealing the constructivism in contemporary Sudanese ceramics, and focusing on the symbolic dimension in the cultural heritage, and their connection to the ceramic form. , and the references and sources of the artwork, and in light of the above, the researcher reached a set of results, the most important of which are: The ceramic works in the Sudanese cultural heritage were distinguished by symbolism as a plastic term that helped in the structural formation of the ceramic form, as well as the ceramists tendency to symbolism with its cultural connotations and sources, to translate their ideas into works of art. Fit with their own style and philosophy. Focusing on color and its variations on the ceramic surfaces through different techniques such as: Raku ceramic technique, and colored inlays, in order to show the expressive values of the form. In addition to transforming and translating the symbol in the cultural heritage into a work of art that is structurally complete in form and content.
