The verbal grammatical indices and its violation A study in the qur'anic evidence in "Al-'INŞÃF"

Abstract

This study examines the Qur'anic evidence, in which some verbal grammatical indices have been omitted. Violation means deletion of a verbal grammatical index, which is: case marking, word order, (form word/particle), colligation, form, concordance, and binding.

The study aimed, firstly, to explain the reasons for the violation, and secondly, which is more important, to identify the violated index in the Qur’anic evidence, and its effect on knowing the functional and semantic meaning, and then to reach a gradation of the indices according to importance.

The study concluded that the reason for the violation is to achieve vocal harmony, or to highlight a semantic feature that can only be done by violation, or a permission to violate the index when there is no ambiguity, so it is simulating a style of the Arabs that cannot be limited by the rules. The study also concluded that the case marking index is the most frequently violated grammatical index in the study sample and has the least effect on clarifying the grammatical and semantic meaning. This indicates that the grammatical index is the least important evidence, contrary to the great interest of grammarians in it.
