Abstract

The study aimed to identify the degree of academic leaders practicing servant leadership in Jordanian universities - The World Islamic Sciences & Education University as a model. The descriptive survey approach was used for its suitability for the purposes of the study. The questionnaire was relied upon to collect data, and the study members consisted of all academic leaders in the faculties of The World Islamic Sciences & Education University, who numbered (47) deans, deputy deans, and heads of departments in the second semester of the academic year 2022-2023.

The results of the study showed that the degree of academic leaders practicing servant leadership in Jordanian universities is high on all dimensions and in order (support, task completion, emotional healing, supervision, empowerment and courage). The results of the study also showed that there were statistically significant differences in the degree of academic leaders practicing servant leadership related to (empowerment and support) due to the administrative position, and there were statistically significant differences in the degree of academic leaders practicing servant leadership related to (supervision and empowerment) due to years of experience.

The study recommended the need to adopt servant leadership as a behavioral leadership style, because of its distinct effects on the university environment, and to enhance the pace of academic leaders in Jordanian universities in the field of servant leadership.
