Designing The Computer Course for Eighth Grade in Jordan Using Infographic and Investigating its Effect in Developing Students' Visual Thinking Skills, Enhancing their Motivation to Learn and Improving their Academic Achievement

Abstract

This study aimed to verify the effect of infographics in developing students’ visual thinking skills, enhancing their motivation to learn, and improving their academic achievement by designing part of computer curriculum for eighth grade in Jordan using infographics. To achieve the study’s  objectives, the quasi-experimental approach was followed. The sample consisted of (95) students divided into two groups, control and experimental. The content was taught to the experimental group using infographics, while the control group was taught using traditional methods. The tools are: a test of visual thinking skills, a measure of motivation towards learning computer, and an achievement test. The results showed that infographics significantly contributed in developing the visual thinking skills of the experimental group students, enhanced their motivation towards learning computers, and improved their academic achievement. Accordingly, the study recommended using infographics in representing complex information in academic courses in a simpler and more attractive way.
