The Ego and the Others According to Sheikh Ma’ AlAineen’ Perspective

Abstract

This study highlights the mindset of the late Sheikh Ma’ AlAineen in order to examine his vision, attitude and approach towards the others i.e. the non-followers; where his conscious character represents a state of awareness that emerged in Morocco at the end of the nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth century. This personality has brought together the qualities of a scientist and a model leader who received support from his locals to adopt a vast Sufi scientific religious intellectual movement that had a great influence on his supporters. The study has relied on historical, analytical-descriptive and inductive approach. It concluded that the Others are not his opponents especially that Islam recognized them as a separate sect; while there was a denial to one another within the sect of ‘the others’. Sheikh Ma’ AlAineen considers that the only solution to resolving the conflict was the unity of the Sufi approaches by the rejection of segregation and the restoration of tolerance as a sign of brotherhood. To him, brotherhood leads to Allah and that different approaches should not create conflict. The study recommends legalizing laws that forbid the blasphemy which leads to charge the other sects in an aim to create a turmoil.
