Abstract
The study aimed to demonstrate the extent to which the developed eighth grade science textbook includes the mental skills included in the TIMES international assessment from the point of view of male and female science teachers. To achieve the goal of the study, the researcher (2023) developed a scale consisting of 23 items, then extracted indications of validity and reliability that justify its use for the purposes of the study. The scale items were distributed into three areas, and were applied to a sample of (120) male and female teachers in government schools affiliated with the Directorate of Education in the Rusaifah District. A descriptive survey methodology was followed, and the results of the study showed that The inclusion of the developed science book on the mental skills mentioned in the TIMSS international study from the point of view of science teachers came in at a high level, and there were no statistically significant differences at the level (α ≤ 0.05) in the estimates of science teachers attributable to the gender variable and years of experience. The study includes recommendations, the most important of which is teachers should apply thinking skills while teaching science and train students on it.
