Abstract

       Intertextuality is a significant poststructural critical concept that has become a pivotal notion claimed by everyone to define. It then became a subject matter for poetics, semiotics, stylistics and pragmatics.

This might suggest the continuous expansion of this concept and the invalidity of some academic expectations that it would fade out and transform into a new stage. Intertextuality still represents a central point in the poststructural spirit. This indicates the abundant literature on theoretical and applied Intertextuality. Under this theoretical fragmentation of the concept this study cannot but follow the critical logic of analyzing the concept of intertextuality which no theoretician has the right to claim its definition because it is a collective work.

This study seeks to critically approach intertextuality through a brief chronicle of its evolution and change, discussing mainly the sources and forms of intertextuality in the Kuwaiti poet Ahmad Mshari Al- Edwani's works, recognizing that Intertextuality is inevitable for any text, being thus a creation strategy for structuring the text and similarly a reception tool for analyzing it.
