The word of the Prophet, a semantic and linguistic study

Abstract

Objectives: The research aims to study the word of the Prophet associated with Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, in the light of context theory, and aims to clarify the impact of context on the development of historical and comparative significance, in addition to identifying its discriminatory features.

Methodology: The research was based on the descriptive approach in rooting the word of the Prophet, the descriptive analytical approach when applied to linguistic and Quranic texts and hadiths, and the comparative approach when compared to Semitic languages.

Research results: The researchers reached a number of results, most notably that the word of the Prophet of the common sublime, and the context had the main impact in determining the significance of the word, as it revealed that the Prophet is inspired by a special revelation, and does not require notification, and may concern some of the people, but the revelation of the Prophet can't be concealed, but must be communicated as it is without change or alteration, and the Prophet has wider powers in terms of his own legislation or religion, which is broader than the powers of the Prophet, and must not obey the Prophet, Rather, the Prophet must be obeyed, As for the verbal conjunctions, the Prophet’s word was associated with some words, such as the illiterate, repentance, and blessings be upon him.

Conclusion: The word prophet cannot be synonymous with the word prophet; the prophet Muhammad does not need infallibility, but the prophet Muhammad, and the actions and duties assigned to the prophet are different from the works and duties of the prophet.
