"The Sociology of the Other in Al-Hamdhani's Maqamat"

Summary

      The study attempts to investigate the image of the other in the maqamat of Badi al-Zaman al-Hamdhani, sociologically at the level of values, behaviour, customs and culture, a true translation with the brush of the active ego that highlighted the other with charisma and elegance, framed by the pluralism of social segments. The study aims to identify the features of society in the space-time of the creator (Badi al-Zaman al-Hamdhani) through the image of the other, the narrator, who reflects the image of the creative ego, and the images of the hero and the victim. Through the multiplicity of events and scenes within the framework of a comic mirror and a creative textual language, the identity of the other reflects the sociological dimensions of societal segments, the first nucleus of which is the individual who has identified with the character of the times on both negative and positive levels according to his environment and his intellectual and psychological formation within the social, historical, political and psychological contexts.The study adopted the descriptive approach based on extrapolating the identity of the other through his multiple images that reflect the sociological features of society in support of the sociological approach. The study reached many results, the most important of which are: the effectiveness of the literary text in demonstrating the artistic and semantic value of literature through the sociology of literature, the effectiveness of the sociological dimensions in achieving the identity of the ego through the other, the role of cultural formation and intellectual and psychological formation in building the image of the other and revealing his interests, and the role of populism in The prosperity of the literary movement, the effectiveness of irony and parody in constructing the sociological text and conveying the voice of the writer, the influence of linguistic and rhetorical qualifications on the other. The study recommended that those interested and researchers uncover the sociological motives for the intellectual and psychological formation of the personality of Badi al-Zaman al-Hamdhani, leading to the truth of his populist tendency, and his neglect of criticism of sovereign people, women, and important phenomena such as luxury, immorality, heresy, and girlishness.
