Abstract

Abstract:

This is a reading of the vocabulary of Al-Matar by Abu Zayd Al-Ansariyy, and an analysis according to the analytical theory of meaning; to clarify the Semantic Markers and Distinguishers for these vocabularies, and to clarify the relationship between the ancient Arabic linguistic heritage and semantic thought in the modern era. It aims to read the book Al-Matar from a modern semantic perspective, specifically the analytical theory of meaning, in light of the descriptive analytical approach.

The research concluded that the author of the book, Abu Zayd Al-Ansariyy, was able to determine the semantic markers of most of the vocabularies, except for some of them, for which he did not mention any of their semantic markers. The distinguishers appeared clearly in most of the vocabularies of the book, and we can say that Abu Zayd’s work clearly agreed with the analytical theory, and he had preceded the contemporary linguists in the applied aspect of the theory of meaning analysis.
