Conceptual Terminology of Sibawayh A Descriptive and Analytical Study

Abstract

This current study investigated Sibawayh's conceptual terminology, which takes the form of a concept. It examined a sample of the concepts Sibawayh used in the book, highlighting the most prominent foundations upon which the term was formulated. Three foundations were addressed: concepts that convey function, concepts that convey structure, and concepts that convey action. To achieve its objectives, the study adopted the descriptive and analytical approach.

The study concluded that the concepts addressed in this study could some of Sibawayh's grammatical thought. Based on more than one foundation, the terminology expressed grammatical issues and direct and indirect linguistic references. Within a single concept, we could find issues of action and function, or descriptions of structure and action. However, one foundation may be more prominent than another and must be taken into account.
