Abstract

Abstract:
The aim of this research is to track the celebration and its representations in Jordanian theater texts, and the mechanisms employed in utilizing heritage in celebratory theater texts. Celebration cannot be separated from the influence of religious celebrations and practices that emerged from the early stages of theatrical art in Ancient Greece, as well as the celebratory elements that appeared in modern theater, in addition to the types of entertainment known to the Arab people. Among the most important of these are celebrations embedded in popular memory, spectacles, and rituals, whether related to religious holidays, weddings, circumcisions, seasons, etc. Celebration has remained one of the most important experimental dramatic trends, with strength, coherence, and continuity in Arab theater. It became an approach adopted by a number of Arab creators. One of the factors that strengthened its place was its ability to push Arab theater practitioners to search for authenticity and true identity, aiming to overcome the European theatrical form. This is clearly evident in the experiments of a number of writers in Jordanian theater, such as: Jibril Al-Sheikh and Ghannam Ghannam. This research can benefit those working in the theatrical arts, including authors, directors, actors, and critics, as well as benefit academic institutions that specialize in theater.
