Liquid sounds in Arabic and Turkish (a comparative study)

Abstract

This research aims to study the liquid sounds in Arabic and Turkish, and analyze their role in word structure in both languages. The research focuses on the phonetic and pronunciation aspects of these sounds, with the aim of highlighting their impact on the phonetic and morphological levels in both Arabic and Turkish. This research relies on the contrastive approach, which reveals the similarities and differences between the phonetic and morphological systems in both languages, to analyze these sounds from the phonetic and morphological aspects. The research also explains the purposes of using these sounds and their functions in both languages, while highlighting their phonetic advantages and their impact on word structure. The most important finding of the research is that liquid sounds are widely employed in both Arabic and Turkish. This was evident in phonetic similarity and dissimilarity, and derivation, although the nature of this role differs between the two languages.
