Abstract

     This study aims to examine the relationship between sensory processing disorder and linguistic performance among adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in Amman, Jordan. The correlational descriptive method was adopted, and the study sample consisted of (100) adolescents with ASD, who were selected using the convenience sample method, from specialized centers. To achieve the study objectives, two scales were developed (Sensory Processing Disorder and Linguistic Performance), and their psychometric properties were verified. The results of the study showed that sensory processing disorder and linguistic performance was at a moderate level among adolescents with autism spectrum disorder. It was also shown that there was a moderately strong negative correlation between the average scores of adolescents with autism spectrum disorder on the sensory processing disorder scale and their average scores on the linguistic performance scale.
