Documentation method

  1. Qur’anic verses: The noble verse is transcribed in the Uthmani Qur’an script, and after the end of the verse, the verse number and the name of the surah are placed in parentheses. Example [46: Al Imran].

 

  1. The Noble Prophetic Hadiths: they are documented by reference to the original Hadith books and by explaining the book, the chapter, and the Hadith number if possible. Example: It was narrated that Aishah said: The Messenger of Allah, may Alah’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: “The most beloved deeds to Allah Almighty are those that are permanent, even if they are small.” Muslim, Sahih Muslim, The Book of Travelers’ Prayers and their Shortening, Chapter the Virtue of Constant Work from Night Prayers and others, Hadith no. (218)

 

  1. Books: The textual quotations or taken with a behavior referred to by sequential numbers at the end of the research are documented as follows:

 

The full name of the author and the date of his death in both Hijri and Gregorian brackets, followed by a comma, then the name of the book (in bold type) followed by a comma, then the name of the investigator or translator - if any - followed by a comma, then the place of publication followed by a comma, then the name of the publisher followed by a comma, then the date of publication with the edition in parentheses, then the part number, if any, followed by a comma, then the page number.

 

Example: Muhammad bin Abd al-Karim al-Shahristani (died 548 AH / 1153 AD), al-Milal wa al-Nahl, investigation by: Amir Ali Muhanna and Ali Hassan Faour, Beirut, Dar al-Maarifa, 1998 AD (7th edition), vol. 1, p. 118. If this book is mentioned again, it is documented briefly: Al-Shahristani, Al-Milal and An-Nahl, Vol. 1, p. 341.

  1. Documenting legal texts:

 

- Documenting legal texts by mentioning the text from its source. Example: Article (5) of the Civil Procedure Code No. (24) of 1988.

 

- Documenting court judgments by mentioning the court judgment from its source. Example: High Court of Justice, Judgment  no. (120), Bar Association Journal, No. 1 of 1989, p. 161.

 

  1. Scientific periodicals: Documentation is carried out as follows:

The full name of the author of the research, followed by a comma, then the title of the research, followed by a comma, then the name of the journal (in bold type) and its place of publication, followed by a comma, then the volume number and number of the issue, followed by a comma, then the date of the issue followed by a comma, then the page number. Example: Azmi Taha Al-Sayed Ahmed, The Scientific and Moral Intentions of the Meanings of the Beautiful Names of Allah according to Al-Ghazali, Al-Manara Journal for Research and Studies, Al al-Bayt University, Vol. 10, No. 1, 1994 AD, p. 45.

 

  1. Copying from newspapers:

A- News: It includes the name of the newspaper, the issue, the date, and the place of publication.

Example: Al-Dustour, p. 9253, June 13, 1993, Amman.

b- Other than the news: It includes the author’s name followed by a comma, then the article title (in bold type) followed by a comma, the name of the newspaper and the issue followed by a comma, the date followed by a comma, and the place of publication.

Example: Mahmoud Darwish, Eleven Planets, Al-Dustour, Amman, March 31, 1993 AD, 1965.

 

  1. Manuscripts: The documentation is as follows:

The author’s full name followed by a comma, then the full manuscript title (in bold type), followed by a comma, then the manuscript number, followed by a comma, then the place of the manuscript, then the page (or paper) number with an indication of the front or back from which the citation was taken using the symbols (and) and (z) respectively.

Example: Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani (d. 852 AH / 1449 AD), Dhil al-Durar al-Katina, Manuscript No. 649, Timurid Library, folio 54 (face).

 

  1. Proceedings of conferences, honorary books and memorial books:

Mention the author's name, the article's name enclosed in quotes "", the book's full name in bold, the name of the editor or editors if they are not one, the edition number, the name of the printing press and the publishing entity, place of publication, date, and page number. Example: Al-Hiyari, Mustafa: “The Settlement of the Arab Tribes in the Country of Jund Qansrin until the end of the fourth century AH”, in the Mihrab of Knowledge: Studies dedicated to Ihsan Abbas, Editing: Ibrahim Al-Saafin, 1st Edition, Dar Sader and Dar Al-Gharb Al-Islami, Beirut, 1997, p. 417.

- Foreign names  are written when they appear in research in the Arabic language, and written immediately afterwards in English, enclosed in parentheses ( ).
