Abstract

The Impact of Small and Micro Enterprises on Achieving Economic Development in the Central Region

ABSTRACT

         Small and micro enterprises play an important role in finding appropriate solutions to the major challenges such as poverty and unemployment; So this study dealt with the impact of small and micro enterprises (SMEs) on achieving economic development (ED) in the central region in Jordan, and to identify the impact of(SMEs) in creating new job opportunities, providing a source of income, and achieving economic empowerment, where the study targeted small enterprises in the central region: the capital Amman, Zarqa and Balqa. The study adopted the descriptive analytical method, and the data collection tool was the questionnaire, which was distributed in the concerned governorates in the central region. The intentional proportional stratified sample was used. The results of the study showed that there is an impact of the two dimensions of (SMEs) (the type of project, the number of workers in the project) according to statistical significance that confirmed the achievement of (ED), unlike the capital of the enterprise, which had no effect on (ED).  The study also recommended the need to provide easy and sustainable financing for new and existing small and micro projects, especially income-generating projects as well as employment by increasing the volume of financing these projects, especially in their early stages.
