Zakat and its Role in Empowerment of Small Investment Enterprises

Abstract

    This study aims to examine and analyze the role of Zakat al-mal to reduce the poverty and unemployment in society. This paper was based on comprehensive review of Holy Qur’an and (Sunnah) texts related the concerned subject, in addition to that evidence from Islamic history were also reviewed and analyzed to explore and discuss the concerned issue. This study shows that, a vital role for Zakat al-mal in financing micro enterprises belong to poor groups and it can back the debtor who lost his enterprises to market. It is strongly recommended take care of Zakat al-mal to be directed financing micro enterprises.
