أثر الموارد الطبيعية على النمو الاقتصادي: دراسة حالة البترول في الجزائر

Abstract

The economics of depleting/exhaustible resources is one of the fundamental issues that have attracted the attention of rich countries, particularly in recent times. The study of depleting/exhaustible resources is conducted within two major frameworks. The first deals with economic growth within the context of the resource-curse hypothesis, and the second addresses resource allocation. We aim in this study to examine the impact of the returns of oil extraction on the economic growth in Algeria. The findings show that the increasing dependence on oil returns has negative impacts on the growth of strategic sectors of the economy. The apparent wealth is artificial and appears in the growth of the macroeconomic indicators as GDP. Therefore, Algeria suffers from the resource curse.
