Legal Regulation of Discounted Sales in Jordanian Law

Abstract

Selling at reduced prices is something that merchants may resort to in several situations, including when merchandise has accumulated, when the season for those items has ended, or when the seller fears that the product's expiration date is approaching. When reviewing the legal rules in Jordanian legislation, we find that it does not address such an issue with the same level of detail as many other legislations, nor does it establish an appropriate legal definition for it He did not specify its reasons and conditions, so I wrote about this topic to shed light on it, explain its concept, reasons, conditions, and the cases in which the seller can resort to selling at reduced prices.

What is the penalty imposed on the seller in the event of his violation of selling at reduced prices, and what if the seller removed that violation according to the Jordanian Consumer Protection Law of 2017, which indicated that penalty, which is a fine of no less than (250) dinars and no more than (10,000) dinars...or imprisonment for a period not exceeding six months, or both of these penalties, in accordance with the provisions of Article (25) of the same law. What if the seller removes this violation and this penalty is dropped, despite the fact that the legislator did not specify a period for removing this violation?
