The reality of internationalization of higher education in Jordanian universities

The study aimed to determine the reality of the internationalization of higher education in Jordanian universities "the availability of internationalization requirements, the practice of internationalization strategies, and the challenges faced by the internationalization", from the point of view of faculty members, and to reveal the differences between their responses, according). The descriptive survey method and the questionnaire were used to collect data. The study population consisted of all faculty members in three Jordanian universities: Yarmouk, Jordanian, and Mu'tah universities. They numbered (2758) faculty members, (337) of whom were selected as a sample for the study. The study showed that the requirements of internationalization are available with a medium degree of in general, and the practice of internationalization strategies came with a medium degree in general, and the challenges facing internationalization came with a high degree in general, also the differences between the sample responses on the three domains (requirements, strategies, challenges) were statistically significant, according to the variable of the faculty’s specialization, and that the differences between their responses on the domain (availability of internationalization requirements) were statistically significant, according to the academic rank. The results also showed that the differences between their responses according to the years of experience, in the two domains (the availability of internationalization requirements, and the practice of internationalization strategies). The study presented a set of recommendations aimed at providing the requirements for the internationalization of higher education, and improving the practice of internationalization strategies, and address the challenges facing the internationalization of higher education in those universities
