PINTER model and its impact on understanding algebraic concepts among ninth grade students

Abstract

The study aimed to investigate the effect of a strategy based on the PINTER model on understanding algebraic concepts among ninth grade students.

The study adopted the experimental method, with a quasi-experimental design. The members of the study were selected from ninth grade students from two schools in Jerash Governorate in Jordan, and two groups were randomly assigned in each school, one of them experimental, taught according to the strategy based on Pinter’s model, and the other control, taught according to the usual method, and after merging them, the number of members of the experimental group reached (58) female students, and the number of members of the control group was (58) female students. The educational material was prepared according to the strategy, and a test for understanding algebraic concepts was prepared,The results showed that there were statistically significant differences (α = 0.05) in understanding algebraic concepts, in favor of the experimental group that studied according to the strategy based on the Pinter model, while the results showed that there were no statistically significant differences (α = 0.05) in understanding algebraic concepts between the teaching methods. (Strategy based on Pinter's model, the usual method) The study recommended urging mathematics teachers to adopt its teaching, holding introductory courses for mathematics teachers, and training them on building educational strategies based on Pinter's model.
