The Degree of Arabic Language Teachers’ Employment of “CORT” Skills and Their Relationship to Language Fluency Among ninth grade Students in Schools in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi

Abstract

    The study aimed to identify the degree to which Arabic language teachers employ skills of CORT and their relationship to linguistic fluency among ninth grade students in schools in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The sample consisted of (213) teachers and (639) students who were chosen randomly. The study followed the descriptive, correlational approach. And the study relied on two questionnaires, the first to measure teachers’ CORT skills, and the second to measure fluency among ninth-grade students. The results showed that the degree to which Arabic language teachers used CORT skills was average, and the results also showed that the level of language fluency among ninth grade students was average. It showed that there is a relationship between teachers’ employ of CORT skills and their students’ linguistic fluency, so, the researchers recommended directing employees’ interaction skills with a focus on expressive fluency, because of its importance.
