This study presents a critical reading of the modern approaches of literary criticism and their impact on analyzing the Arabic poetry. It discusses how much the most famous Arab men of letters and researchers
were influenced by these approaches and how their readings have been reflected on their literature insomuch that the Arabic literary studies kept revolving around the historical, social, structural, psychological, stylistic, deconstructive and semiotic approaches and their applications through which many critics could freely disclose the creative aspects of ancient and modern poets. Many of the Arab critics and men of letters were found to even assimilate these some forty approaches which even have become an integral part of their studies.
This demonstrates the absence of an Arabic critical approach that observes the setting where the Arabic literature and arts have evolved and which imposes no advanced interpretations.
The study included six parts: Reception in the historical approach, Reception in the sociological approach, Reception in the psychological approach, Reception in the structural approach, Reception in the stylistic approach and Reception in the mythological approach.
In a summary, these approaches have been formed under various schools and trends of philosophical, intellectual and linguistic thought.
