Abstract

The level of awareness of ethical guidance practices in the use of artificial intelligence programs in psychological counseling among counselors is attributed to the factors of experience and gender. This study aimed to determine the level of awareness of ethical guidance practices in the use of artificial intelligence programs in psychological counseling among counselors working in the Ministry of Education, according to gender, experience, educational level, and school type. The current study used the descriptive-analytical method and employed an electronic questionnaire. The study sample consisted of educational counselors working in public and private schools affiliated with the directorates of education, totaling (166) counselors. The study instrument was developed to include three main dimensions: awareness of artificial intelligence technologies, awareness of legal and privacy issues, and awareness of accountability and professional constraints.

The results showed that the counselors' level of awareness of artificial intelligence technologies was high, their level of awareness of legal and privacy issues was moderate, and their awareness of accountability and professional constraints was high. The results also showed the level of awareness of ethical guidance practices in the use of artificial intelligence programs in psychological counseling among counselors according to the variables of experience and gender. Gender favors females compared to males, and according to the educational degree variable, it favors counselors who hold higher educational degrees and counselors who have more than 15 years of experience. As for the school type variable, the results came in favor of private schools.
