Abstract

Abstract

     This study aimed to identify the psychometric characters of the comprehensive executive functions inventory (CEFI) among a sample of students with special needs in the State of Kuwait. The study sample consisted of (1020) male and female children between the ages of (6-15) years. So (660) normal children, (150) children with learning difficulties, (110) children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and (100) children with autism spectrum disorder were selected from children in school for the scholastic year 2022/2021 who are enrolled in public and private schools and education centers which followed to the Ministry of Education in the State of Kuwait. To achieve the objectives of the study, the comprehensive executive functions scale (CEFI) was developed, and it consisted of (100) items. The data resulting from the application of the inventory were treated statistically using a set of appropriate statistical methods and the extraction of psychometric properties. The validity of the content, constructive validity and differential validity were obtained in which the results of the analysis of variance showed that there were statistically significant differences at the level of significance α ≥ 0.05 attributed to the difference in the type of the case and were in favor of normal children, as well as Indicators of factor validity calculated by the values of the latent root that explain the performance on the scale were also available, which indicated the one-dimensionality of the scale. The reliability coefficients of the scale were obtained, which were calculated by the internal consistency method (Cronbach's alpha equation) where the values of the reliability coefficients ranged at 0.97. The method of Re-test (Test re-test) where the values of the stability coefficients ranged between (0.84- 0.90).
