The Impact of Emotional Intelligence on Ethical Leadership in Jordanian Electrical Industries Companies

Abstract

This study aimed to identify the impact of emotional intelligence on ethical leadership in Jordanian electrical industries companies. The study was based on four dimensions to measure emotional intelligence: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and Relations Management. Ethical leadership was also measured by four dimensions which are: respecting others, servicing others, justice with others, and honesty with others. It was conducted on a random stratified sample consisting of (265) employees in the Jordanian electrical industries companies, where the unit of analysis was represented by the employees in those companies. The descriptive analytical method was used to achieve the study objectives. The questionnaire was used to collect the needed data. A set of statistical methods were used for this type of study, the most important of which are simple and multiple regression coefficient.

The results indicated that there were high levels of emotional intelligence and ethical leadership in the Jordanian electric companies. The results also showed significant effect of emotional intelligence on ethical leadership. The study recommended that the Jordanian electrical companies should focus on helping their employees and increasing their self-management abilities, self-control in anger situations, and strengthening the positive relationships between employees.
