documentation
The journal adopts the system of the American Psychological Association, which depends on documentation after the end of the quoted text by placing the author’s family followed by a comma, then the year followed by a comma, then the page, and all in parentheses. All references are arranged alphabetically in the reference list. This system was developed by the American Psychological Association in (1930, 1940) and is constantly being renewed, the last renewal was in (2020).
Documentation method:
1.Qur’anic verses: The noble verse is transcribed in the Uthmani Qur’an script, and after the end of the verse, the verse number and the name of the surah are placed in parentheses. Example:
﴿ عَلَّمَ الْإِنْسَانَ مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْ ﴾ Al Alaq]: 5 [
2.The Noble Prophetic Hadiths: they are documented by reference to the original Hadith book and by explaining the book, the chapter, the Hadith number, publisher, place of publication if possible. Example: It was narrated that Aishah said: The Messenger of Allah, may Alah’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: “The most beloved deeds to Allah Almighty are those that are permanent, even if they are small.” Muslim, Sahih Muslim, The Book of Travelers’ Prayers and their Shortening, Chapter the Virtue of Constant Work from Night Prayers and others, Hadith no. (218).
- In the case of documenting the Hadiths of the Prophet that were mentioned in the authentic books: the reference is mentioned, then the chapter, then the part, then the page, then the information related to the edition, and in the event that there is a multiplicity of words, or there is more than one reference, this must be indicated, such as: Al-Bukhari included it in the Sahih Mosque... Book: Purification, Chapter: Ablution, No. 2531, Part 1, p. 45.
- In the case of documenting the Hadiths of the Prophet that were not mentioned in the Sahih: here the researcher should mention the degree of the hadith after he extracts it, such as: Al-Hakim authenticated it in Al-Mustadrak (3/33 No. 161), and Ibn Hajar in Al-Fath: (5/211) And Al-Albani in Al-Silsilah: (4/50) No. (550).
1.Books: the method of documentation in the list of references is generally in the case of reference to books as follows:
The name of the author or authors starting with the family followed by a comma, followed by the author's first name, followed by the year and placed in parentheses followed by a period. The title of the book is written in the same script. The edition is directly placed in parentheses if there is more than one edition of the book followed by a period, but in the case of the first edition of the book there is no need to mention it. Then the publishing house followed by a period. It is noted in the documentation of books in the list of references, especially in the English language, that the first word of the title of the book begins with a capital letter, then we complete the title with small letters. As for the publishing house, all its words begin with capital letters.
In the case of documentation within the text and in general, a distinction must be made between two cases:
- The documentation at the end of the sentence is in the following form: (Al-Najjar, 2010, 13), (Alter, 2002, 30), (Laudon & Laudon, 2004), (Dess et al., 2005, 132).
- The documentation at the beginning of the sentence is as follows: Al-Najjar (2010, 13), Alter (2002, 30), Laudon and Laudon (2004), Dess et al. (2005, 132)
It is noted in documenting the beginning of the sentence in the case of authors that the word “and” is used instead of the symbol & and that the brackets are on the year and the page only. It is also noted that the number following the year indicates the page number that was referenced without the need to put the letter r in Arabic or P. in English.
- One Author:
Al-Najjar, Fayez Jumaa (2005). Management information systems. Dar Al-Hamid for Publishing and Distribution.
Al-Najjar, Fayez Jumaa (2010). Management Information Systems (3rd Edition). Dar Al-Hamid for Publishing and Distribution.
Alter, Steven (2002). Information systems: The foundation of e-business (4th ed.). Prentice-Hall, Inc.
Documentation if there is no year of publication on the book. If there is no year of publication on the book.
In this case, the word (without) in Arabic, which means without a date, or (n.d.) in English, which means (no date) is placed in parentheses in the place of the year, for example:
Alyan, Ribhi Mustafa (without). Scientific research: its foundations. Its methods, methods, and procedures. International Ideas House.
- Two authors of a book:
Al-Najjar, Nabil Juma'a, and Al-Najjar, Fayez Juma'a (2004). Computer skills. The modern world of books.
Laudon, Kennth C., & Laudon, Jane P. (2004). Management information systems: Managing the digital firm (8th ed.). Prentice-Hall International, Inc.
- Three or more authors of a book:
When documenting in the list of references, the names of up to (20) of the first authors from the total number of authors are placed in the reference list, and if the number exceeds twenty authors, we put in the list the families of the first (19) authors followed by a comma, then three consecutive points ... then the author's family Twenty and then the year in parentheses and we follow documentation as usual.
As for documenting in the text, we include the family of the first author and others in Arabic, and in English et al. The word goes back to Latin and its origin is (etalii-alia), meaning others.

The documentation within the text is at the end of the sentence (Sekaran, 1992/1998, 293).
The documentation is within the text at the beginning of the sentence Sekaran (1992/1998, 293).
It is noted here that we prove the year of original authorship and the year of translation in the documentation within the text and in the following form: 1983/1989, and it is also installed in the reference list as follows: (original publication year 1983).
- Book without author or editor (institution):
Merriam Webster's collegiate dictionary (10th ed.). (1993). Merriam-Webster.
The documentation is within the text at the end of the sentence (Merriam Webster's, 1993)
The documentation is within the text at the beginning of the sentence Merriam Webster's (1993)
- Reference to the book (digital edition):
Schiraldi, G.R. (2001). The post-traumatic stress disorder sourcebook: A guide to healing, recovery, and growth [Adobe Digital Editions Version [.doi: 10.1236/0071393722].
- Edited book (undefined by chapters and authors):
We begin with the name of the book's editor in place of the author, followed by the word (Eds.) in English in parentheses, followed by a period. Then the year of editing the book in parentheses followed by a period. The title of the book is written in italics, then the edition is placed directly in parentheses if there is more than one edition of the book followed by a period. Finally, the publishing house is followed by a period.
Gibbs, T. T., & Huang, L. N. (Eds.). (1991). Children of color: Psychological intervention with minority youth. Jossey-Bass.
Dr.. A chapter in an edited book (the author of the chapter is known)
A chapter in an edited book (the author of the chapter is known)
- The name of the author of the chapter starting with the family followed by the year of publication in parentheses followed by a period. Chapter title followed by a period.
The word (in) is placed in Arabic, or (in) in English, followed by the name of the editor or editors as normal (without preceding the last name) followed by the word (Eds.) i.e. (editing) in parentheses followed by a comma. The title of the book is written in italics, then placed in parentheses. Edition If there is more than one edition of the book followed by a comma, the pages covered by the chapter are preceded by the letter PP. With a bow closing followed by a dot. Dar Al nasher.
Hale, Ron (2000). End - user computing control guidelines. In Carol V. Brown & Heikki Topi (Eds.), IS management handbook (7th ed., pp. 727-737). Auerbach Publications.
- The use of secondary sources in documentation:
Documentation in the text includes the two references to indicate that you have read Rabbit (1982) as mentioned in Lyon et al. (2014)
The documentation within the text is at the end of the sentence (Rabbit, 1982, as cited in Lyon et al., 2014)
Documentation in the list is only for the reference of Lyon et al. (2014), which is the reference I read and looked at.
Example: If the researcher returns to the book of Al-Najjar and others (2020), but Al-Najjar and others took it from Al-Araji (1995), and the researcher could not access Al-Araji’s book because it was not available, how can this be documented:
The documentation within the text is at the end of the sentence (Al-Araji, 1995, as mentioned in Al-Najjar et al., 2020)
As for the documentation in the list of references, it is for the book that I have seen and read by my agencies:
Al-Najjar, Fayez Jumaa, Al-Najjar, Nabil Jumaa, and Al-Zoubi, Majed Rady (2020). Scientific Research Methods: An Applied Perspective (5th Edition). Dar Al-Hamid for Publishing and Distribution.
1.Scientific Journals:
The method of documentation in the list of references is generally as follows:
- The name of the researcher, or the names of researchers starting with the last name followed by a comma, followed by the researcher’s first name, followed by the year, and it is placed in parentheses followed by a period. We treat the names of researchers in the same way we treat the documentation of books.
- If the number of researchers exceeds twenty, we put in the list the families of the first (19) researchers, followed by a comma, then three consecutive dots ... then the family of the twenty researchers, then the year in parentheses, and we follow the documentation as usual.
- The article title is followed by a period, noting that the first word of the title begins only with a capital letter and then we complete the title words with small letters when the reference is in English.
The name of the magazine is in italics. Noting that the words of the magazine's name begin with all capital letters when the reference is in English.
- The volume (Vol.) and the issue (No.), where the volume number (Vol.) is placed first in italics, followed immediately in parentheses by the issue or issue number followed by a comma, and there is no need to mention the word volume, number, or Issuance, as it is written directly in the following form when authenticating in Arabic 3(4), meaning volume 3 and number 4, with the emphasis that the volume number is written in italics.
- The pages occupied by the research in the journal, followed by a dot in the event of the end of the documentation.
- The digital document identifier and written in full without abbreviation, noting that a period is not placed at the end of it so as not to interfere with the digital document identifier and in the following format: http://dx.doi.org//10.5539/ijbm.v11n6p70.
- A Research published in a scientific journal.
Al-Salem, Muayyad Saeed, and Al-Najjar, Fayez Juma’a (2002). It is noted here in the documentation of the list that we put the families as usual and before the authoring group we put & then put the word members in Arabic or the members in English, and we complete the documentation as usual.
- A research published in an electronic journal without a number doi:
When the research is published in an electronic journal and there is no doi number for it, in this case, the website must be installed in the documentation in the list of references as follows:
Vicki, G. T., Thomae, M., Cullen, A., & Fernandez, H. (2007). The effect of sexist humor and type of rape on men’s self-reported rape proclivity and victim blame. Current Research in Social Psychology, 13(10), 122-132. http://www.uiowa.edu/~grpproc/crisp/crisp.html.
1.Scientific Conferences:
It is noted in documenting the research paper presented in a scientific conference that we put the year followed by a comma, then we prove the day and month, all of which are in parentheses followed by a period, then we put the name of the conference in place of the name of the journal, then put the sponsor of the conference followed by a comma, the country is followed by a comma, the country is followed by a period. Noting that the title of the research paper is in italics. In documenting the conferences, we make the following observations:
- In documenting the conference session, [the conference session] is added after the title.
- In the presentation of the scientific paper, [presentation of a scientific paper] is added after the title.
- In the presentation of a paper in a workshop, the names of the session chairs are fixed, then the word (chairs), the title followed by [workshop].
